About Us

We are located in a very small historic building in downtown Elkin and provide our services in a quiet, cozy atmosphere. Because we are small, we see one client at a time, with our focus on you!

Feel free to relax with a cup of tea…we allow plenty of time between clients for you to come back to earth slowly.

We work by appointment only, so we are often in session when you stop by…please call to schedule or to arrange a gift certificate purchase so that we can be available for you.

Denise Lyon — Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist (NC # 417)

“It’s my moving meditation” is how Denise describes giving a massage. Being able to receive healing and balance for herself through the giving of bodywork is what has kept her in love with the profession since 1995. Every massage is unique, as she customizes each session to fit the client’s needs by blending modalities into a flowing Esalen/Swedish style massage.  She invites you to discover what her regular clients already know…massage is not a luxury, it’s simply one of the best avenues to travel on your return journey to wholeness.

Initially trained at Crestone Healing Arts Center in Colorado in 1995, Denise is a perpetual student of bodywork and works with a multitude of modalities including Esalen massage, jin shin do acupressure, shiatsu shin tai, nuat boran Thai yoga/massage, myofascial/deep tissue massage, healing work with sound and vibration, reflexology, reiki and hot stone massage.  After working in world-class spas such as the Grove Park Spa in Asheville, as well as clinical settings and in private practice, Denise has settled back into her hometown of Elkin, NC where she owns Lumini Bodyworks & Microspa.

Dawn McLean — Licensed Esthetician (NC #E3932)

After a successful career as a writer for a Fortune 50 corporation, Dawn decided to pursue a more fulfilling career. Because her personality is one of a nurturer and care-giver, she wanted a job that she could feel good about and feel like she makes a difference, so she chose to become an esthetician. While she attained the majority of her education and her license in North Carolina, she also received additional specialized training in Richmond, Virginia.

You may ask… “why do I need to have regular facials?” Regardless of your age or gender, if you want your skin to look its best you have to take care of it. A facial does for your skin what exercise and good nutrition does for your body. Regular facials, using professional-strength products, will clean and hydrate your skin, improve circulation and reduce the appearance of the size of your pores, giving you smoother, younger looking skin.

Dawn offers customized Bioelements-deep-cleansing facials and full-body waxing. And, because all of Dawn’s facials include a relaxing massage of your hands, feet and shoulders, she says that “facials are good for your skin and your psyche”.
